All tournaments are USCF-rated, unless otherwise noted (Quick-rated if game/29 or faster) and require USCF membership. USCF Memberships may be purchased at most tournaments. Scholastic events are marked. Most tournaments prohibit smoking in the playing rooms.  Unless otherwise stated please bring your own boards, sets and clocks to events.

In general, we list tournaments that take place in Illinois. For national events and events in neighboring states, see the links at the bottom of this calendar. Organizers of out-of-state events may list their tournaments if they are ICA Affiliates, or by paying a $10 fee per listing.

On site entry 8:00 - 8:40 AM, check in for proper seeding in round 1 by 8:45 AM, 1st round at 9 AM, trophies for 1st individual & team, awards for 2nd- 5th individual and participation awards for everyone at approx 1:30 PM. Open to all players grades K-8. Four sections: K-1, 2-3, 4-5 and 6-8; 4 rounds g/30, USCF rated (membership available on site). After the awards are over we are hosting a bughouse tournament. Five rounds g/5, ending around 3 PM. Entry fee is $30 per player and includes both tournaments and a buffet lunch. Grayslake IL. 60030. 1 Section: K-8, *if you were an 8th grader in 2007-2008 you are eligible to play. 6 Rounds, G/30 no delay. No eliminations, all players play 6 rounds. There will be no co-champions, Champion will be determined by a Blitz-Off; best of 3, Lowest rating will pick color first. Schedule: Doors will open at 8:30, Pairings will be posted at 8:45, 1st round at 9:00am sharp. Entry: $20 fee, $25 if paid at the door, will result in a 0-point bye for the first round. Must have a USCF Membership (will be available for purchase at the door before 8:45am). Awards: Top 5 overall will receive U.S. savings bonds. Check in: High School: 8-8:30 am, first round 9 am; Scholastic section: 9-9:30, first round 10 a.m. Both sections: awards at 6 pm or ASAP after each section ends. Team Competition: High school 8-board team, 4 rounds G55/delay 5; trophies to top 5 teams, medals to individuals on top 5 teams and to top 5 individuals on each board.
